9006 Bulbs
9006 bulbs are a special kind of headlight
bulb unlike the traditional and incandescent bulbs. These are the improvised version of the projectile halogen
bulbs. Basically a 9006 bulb is a traditional halogen
bulb on steroids. The number designation in their
name represents the numeric coding that stands to indicate the bulbs energy consumption for United States only.
At the core traditional 9006
bulbs are halogen bulbs. However they consume quite a
bit less energy while producing substantially more output. The amount of output that a 9006 bulb can put out is moderated
due to federal regulations. The 9006 designation is
also a size / fitment designation. You can find lamps
that are 9005, 9007, etc.
9006 bulbs are one of the
more popular upgrades, because there are many varieties, they are available in many different color outputs, and
you can get filament based bulbs. Filament based
bulbs will not require expensive upgrades like a xenon conversion.
Basically, 9006 bulbs are a
great compromise if you don’t want to spend all of your hard earned money on an extremely expensive HID
conversion.
